If you are watching the parade from your home, view the below map to estimate the approximate time the parade will pass by your house. The parade starts at 8pm and should be completed in roughly 45 minutes.
Note, there is also a FaceBook group "Allen's Creek Boat Parade" allowing comments.
If you have a boat on Allen's Creek and want to join the parade PLEASE DO, it is very simple and a lot of fun! Basic instructions of what is needed to setup your boat is discussed below.
We will meet around St Paul School before 8pm and depart as a group right at 8pm (don't be late).
Note, the tide is always low this time of year but should be 1.8 feet at 8pm and rising. If you know the creek you know where the shallow spot is (see map), we took a medium sized boat through there recently under similar tide conditions and did just fine. We intend to put solar LED lights on the existing PVC poles so everyone can see the path to the deepest part. If you are unfamiliar with the creek, you can just follow the other boats.
How to setup your boat with lights:
If you have never decorated your boat with lights but want to join the parade you will find it is quite simple. It does not have to be fancy, in fact we would prefer more boats with simple decorations as opposed to fewer boats with extravigant lighting.
So keep it simple, just join the party and wish your neighbors a "Merry Christmas" - it's a blast!
All you will need is a simple inverter and a string of LED lights. Here are 2 good sized inverters from Harbor Freight:
400 watts750 watts
Clamp the inverter to your battery's pos/neg posts and plug in your Christmas Lights to the outlets on the inverter. Drap the lights over your boat as you see fit and head out to the parade, we look forward to seeing you.
